Many people give these two tools a bad rep; we would like to clear the air by explaining how they are safe and why they are the most effective tools for dog training, in our opinion. The most important thing to note is as long as these tools are being used properly, they will not cause any harm or pain to your dog.
Contrary to popular belief, e-collars are not shock collars. The difference between these two is quite drastic. You could compare it to someone pinching or slapping you to get your attention rather than a poke or tap on the shoulder. An e-collar uses electronic stimulation oppose to an electrical shock. Our trainers are highly knowledgeable with using this tool, and by the end of your training program you will be too!
While prong collars are also frowned upon, we are here to explain to you how they are actually beneficial to your pets training. First and foremost, these collars do not hurt your pet. The purpose of the prongs is to apply pressure, not pain. While the pressure applied is uncomfortable to most dogs, using the collar correctly does not harm them. By using this type of collar we are able to teach your dog boundaries, which is crucial to the overall training. If you think about it, a regular collar constricts the airways much more than a prong collar does. Dogs are less likely to continue pulling because of the added pressure.
Your dogs safety and happiness is just as important to us as their success. If you have any questions regarding these tools feel free to contact us.
